Cursor CLI

CodeCrab Docs · Cursor CLI

Use your Cursor account through Cursor CLI to run CodeCrab reviews. Installing the editor alone is not enough.

Editor versus CLI

CodeCrab uses cursor-agent, the compatible CLI entrypoint described in its setup panel. Cursor’s current documentation calls the CLI agent; that is different from cursor, which launches the editor. cursor --version does not prove the review CLI is installed.

Install Cursor CLI

Install the CLI on macOS or Linux using Cursor’s official installer.

macOS / Linux · Terminal
curl https://cursor.com/install -fsS | bash

On native Windows, use the official PowerShell installer. Restart your terminal after installation.

Windows · PowerShell
irm 'https://cursor.com/install?win32=true' | iex

Sign in and fix PATH

Sign in with your Cursor account, then check that the CLI session is available.

Terminal
cursor-agent login
cursor-agent status

On macOS the CLI is installed in ~/.local/bin. CodeCrab can find it there even if your shell cannot.

If your terminal cannot find cursor-agent, use its full path to sign in.

macOS · Terminal
~/.local/bin/cursor-agent login

To add the directory for future zsh terminal sessions, put this line in ~/.zshrc, then open a new terminal.

macOS · ~/.zshrc
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"

Activate Cursor

  1. Open Settings → Models and choose the Cursor tab.
  2. Click Use Cursor. Opening a tab by itself does not switch agents.
  3. Pick Local default or a model available to your account. Use refresh after new models are added.

Review Profiles, skills, past reviews and deep dives carry over when you switch agents. The selected model handles reviews, Investigate, deep dives and Pre-push; profile and skill generation uses a strong model.

Read-only reviews

CodeCrab runs Cursor in ask mode inside Cursor’s sandbox. It cannot run commands or edit files. CodeCrab fetches PR/MR data and passes it to the agent.
